Zumba, Thumbprints and Pirate’s Booty

It has been a wonderful week of firsts! Each of the new things I’ve tried have been thoroughly enjoyable, so I thought I’d share a few of them with you all.
1. ZUMBAAAA: Despite the fact that the Zumba craze (dance/cardio work out) has been in full swing for a few years now, I did not step foot into a class until this past Monday. I absolutely love to dance, so this fusion of exercise, upbeat music and energized participants was just what I needed to change up my exercise routine.
2. Thumbprint Cookies: My friend and I had a bake-date last night and she brought over a recipe for vegan cookies. I was excited to try something different, but wasn’t too sure as to how the cookies were going to turn out. Not only was the ingredient list very minimal (oats, nuts, maple syrup, canola oil, wheat flour, salt and fruit jam….looove this!), but this recipe produced absolutely scrumptious cookies and will be one of my go-tos whenever I am craving a treat, but don’t want to feel too guilty. There area a ton of recipes, but she found this particular one on the Whole Foods website (Thumbprint Cookies).
My co-baker ever so carefully adding the jam (raspberry and blueberry)

After baking : )

3. Pirate’s Booty: My lovely mother kindly introduced me to some new snacks this week. One of them included Pirate’s booty (awesome name by the way) which, reminds me both of a cheese doodle and cheddar popcorn all wrapped into a cute little puff of yummy. Lucky for me, it is a slightly healthier alternative (lower in fat at ~5g fat/serving) compared to some chips (tortilla chips, potato chips, cheese doodles, etc.). Added bonus, they go well with wasabi peas, which makes for a really crunchy, savoury snack.

Snacking and reading People magazine, not too shabby.
