Beneficial Bite of the Week!!


Flaxseed is one of the easiest ways to get your recommended amount of both omega-3 essential fatty acids, lignans (phytochemicals that may have antioxidative properties) and fiber. You can purchase it in it’s original seed form OR I like to buy it pre-ground, which for me is a lot easier to incorporate into my smoothies, oatmeal, yogurt, salads and even baked goods (it also functions as an egg substitute). It is relatively tasteless and combines well with pretty much anything.

Note: Make sure to store in your freezer once the seeds are ground or if you’ve purchased pre-ground seeds. This will prevent the loss of the seeds’ nutritional benefits.
